The possible replacement in the leadership of the Collective Transport System (STC) Metro of Mexico City has generated uncertainty among citizens. Despite official confirmations from Guillermo Calderón, the current general director, or the STC Metro, or Adrián Rubalcava, rumors continue to circulate.
The leak of a resignation letter presumably signed by Guillermo Calderón coincides with the fourth anniversary of the collapse of Line 12 of the Metro, a tragic incident that claimed lives. The letter addressed to the head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, indicates that Calderón would leave his position on May 5, 2025.
Antonio Nieto, a journalist, has mentioned that Adrián Rubalcava, former mayor of Cuajimalpa and former candidate for the head of Government of CDMX, could be the one to replace Guillermo Calderón in the management of the Metro. It is speculated that Rubalcava would implement a new security strategy and renew uniforms and operations of the system.
The resignation letter from Calderón, dated May 5, 2025, expresses his irrevocable decision to resign from the position of General Director of the STC Metro. In the document, Calderón thanks for all the attention received and states that he has received all corresponding payments for his services.
In addition, it is mentioned that Rubalcava may be romantically related to Sandra Cuevas, former mayor of Cuauhtémoc. These speculations have generated great anticipation regarding the possible arrival of a new director at the Metro of Mexico City.
